NIB-X is WMD Guns’ proprietary nickel boron coating process applied directly to the bolt carrier group components. Nickel boron is an electroless coating that bonds at the molecular level to the steel substrate, producing an extremely hard, slick surface that dramatically reduces friction between the bolt carrier and the interior of the upper receiver. The reduced friction translates to smoother cycling, easier extraction, and a BCG that is significantly easier to clean than phosphate or parkerized carrier groups — carbon fouling wipes off the slick surface rather than bonding to it as it does with matte finishes. The semi-auto carrier profile features a modified tail section compared to the full-auto/military carrier profile. Semi-auto profile carriers are designed specifically for semi-automatic AR-15 lower receivers and are the standard configuration for civilian AR-15 builds. The bolt is machined from Carpenter 158 steel and magnetic particle inspected to mil-spec standards. The carrier is machined from 8620 steel and heat treated for durability. All components meet or exceed mil-spec dimensions for compatibility with standard AR-15 upper receivers, barrels, and gas systems. The polished NIB-X finish provides a bright silver appearance and maximum surface slickness for easy cleaning and smooth operation.
