The HD7 uses a 7 MOA red dot reticle — a larger dot than the 2–4 MOA dots found on precision-oriented optics — which is intentionally sized for fast target acquisition at close to medium range rather than for precision long-range aiming. The larger dot is easier to pick up quickly under stress or in dynamic shooting situations where speed of acquisition matters more than fine precision. The HD7 runs on a standard AA battery, which is widely available and avoids the need to carry specialized lithium cells in the field. Multiple brightness settings allow the reticle intensity to be adjusted for ambient light conditions, from bright outdoor daylight to low-light indoor use. The HD7 mounts to any standard Picatinny (MIL-STD-1913) rail and is well suited to AR-15 rifles, shotguns, and any host firearm with a Picatinny rail section.

I have one of optics on my AR . The circle dot reticle works great and is easy to get on target. It has held up for a couple years now without issue this optic is a good budget choice with quality construction and optics. It is not a magnified optic. I’m giving it five stars because it works at a budget price that other optics ask twice the price for . It makes a cheap alternative to an Eotec
