Flip-up rear sights fold flat against the top rail when not in use, maintaining a low profile that does not obstruct the field of view through a magnified optic or red dot. When needed, the sight deploys upward with a button press or thumb push and locks into the vertical position for iron sight use. Most flip-up rear sights are designed to co-witness with a compatible front sight at the appropriate height — lower-third co-witness sights appear in the lower portion of a red dot window, while absolute co-witness sights appear centered in the optic window. UTG flip-up rear sights mount to standard Picatinny (MIL-STD-1913) rails and are compatible with standard AR-15 flat-top upper receivers. Windage adjustment allows the rear aperture to be shifted left or right to zero the iron sight system for point-of-impact correction at the intended zero distance.
