Free-float quad rails attach to the barrel nut rather than the delta ring and handguard cap, completely separating the handguard body from the barrel. Because the handguard makes no contact with the barrel at any point, it cannot introduce pressure that shifts the barrel under load. This matters most for accuracy-focused builds where consistent barrel harmonics produce tighter groups at distance. Four Picatinny rail sections at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock give you mounting positions for lights, lasers, bipods, vertical grips, and other accessories in any combination. Free-float installation requires removing the factory delta ring assembly using a dedicated barrel nut wrench compatible with the AIM Sports nut pattern. The gas tube routes through the interior of the handguard to the upper receiver as it does on any standard AR-15 upper. Once installed, the free-float system is more rigid than a clamping two-piece design and does not shift under pressure.
