The AR-10 / .308 charging handle is longer than a standard AR-15 charging handle and is not interchangeable — confirm your upper receiver is an AR-10 or .308 pattern before ordering. The charging handle rides in a machined channel in the upper receiver and is used to manually cycle the bolt carrier group rearward to chamber the first round, clear a malfunction, or lock the bolt to the rear for inspection or administrative handling. The Seekins DNA charging handle features an extended ambidextrous latch design that provides a larger, more positive grip surface for faster actuation compared to the small mil-spec latch. The DNA latch can be operated from either side of the handle, benefiting left-handed shooters and right-handed shooters who need to charge with the non-dominant hand during malfunction clearance or unconventional shooting positions. Installation is a direct drop-in replacement in any standard AR-10 upper receiver — no modification to the upper receiver, bolt carrier group, or other components is required. Simply remove the existing charging handle and reinstall with the Seekins DNA handle, a basic field-level task requiring no special tools.

The extended latch surface on the DNA handle provides a positive grip area that is noticeably easier to actuate under stress, while wearing gloves, or when shooting from unconventional positions compared to the narrow mil-spec latch.
