The receiver end plate sits at the rear of the lower receiver, sandwiched between the castle nut and the lower receiver face after the buffer tube is installed. It locks the buffer tube rotationally and provides the surface against which the castle nut is staked after final torque. On a standard mil-spec AR-15 lower, the end plate threads onto the buffer tube after the tube is installed, and the castle nut then threads on over it and is torqued to approximately 35 to 40 foot-pounds. After torquing, the castle nut is staked into the end plate to prevent it from backing off under recoil during sustained fire. Standard end plates provide a clean, low-profile rear to the lower receiver without any sling attachment hardware. Ambidextrous sling point end plates add QD sling sockets on both sides of the plate, allowing sling attachment at the rear of the lower without a separate adapter. Anderson Manufacturing end plates are machined to mil-spec dimensions and thread onto standard mil-spec buffer tubes. Whether replacing a damaged end plate or assembling a new lower from scratch, the Anderson end plate is a direct-fit mil-spec replacement compatible with all standard AR-15 lower receivers, buffer tubes, and castle nuts.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the receiver end plate do?
The receiver end plate sits between the lower receiver face and the castle nut, locking the buffer tube rotationally and providing a staking surface for the castle nut. It prevents the buffer tube from spinning after installation.
Does this end plate have a QD sling socket?
This is the standard mil-spec end plate without a QD socket. For a QD sling attachment at the rear of the lower, use the Anderson ambidextrous sling point end plate instead.
Is this compatible with standard mil-spec buffer tubes and castle nuts?
Yes. The Anderson mil-spec receiver end plate fits all standard mil-spec buffer tubes and is compatible with standard castle nuts and AR-15 lower receivers.
