Frequently Asked Questions

What is a low profile gas block?

A low profile gas block is a minimal-profile gas block designed to sit below the inner diameter of a free-float handguard, allowing a free-float rail or handguard to extend over the gas block without obstruction. Unlike a standard front sight base gas block, a low profile gas block has no iron sight tower, making it compatible with most free-float handguard systems used on modern AR-15 builds.

What gas system length is “mid-length”?

Mid-length is a gas system with the gas port located approximately 9 inches from the chamber — between carbine-length (7″) and rifle-length (12″). Mid-length gas systems are commonly used on 16 to 18-inch barrels and produce a softer, more gradual recoil impulse than a carbine-length system on the same barrel length, while still cycling reliably with standard ammunition.

Why stainless steel for a gas block?

Stainless steel provides superior corrosion resistance compared to standard steel gas blocks with phosphate or nitride finishes, making it well suited to wet or humid environments and barrels that are frequently cleaned. Stainless gas blocks are also easy to identify during assembly and cleaning due to their silver appearance against a black or dark barrel finish.
