The Griffin Armament M4SD Flash Comp is a muzzle device that combines the functions of three traditionally separate device classes — muzzle brakes, tactical compensators, and flash suppressors — into a single, elegant solution. Because of this design, you get extreme durability, low concussion, and meaningful flash and recoil reduction in one package. As a result, the Griffin Armament M4SD Flash Comp earned a perfect 5 out of 5 score in National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) testing, achieving the rare NTOA Gold Seal of approval.
In addition, the M4SD Flash Comp is compatible with the M4SD series GATE-LOK suppressor interface. Furthermore, it features a sacrificial baffle to extend the service life of your silencer, and it comes pre-drilled for permanent attachment on 14.5″ to 16″ Non-SBR M4 carbine builds. Moreover, Griffin Armament recommends using this flash comp on 14.5″ or longer barrels for optimal flash reduction. When mounting to a suppressor, the package also includes a shim set and an over-travel stop washer for a secure, repeatable fit.
However, please note that the M4SD Flash Comp is optimized for the Griffin M4SD Series of Silencers. Therefore, confirm compatibility with your suppressor before purchasing the Griffin Armament M4SD Flash Comp.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Griffin Armament M4SD system?
M4SD is Griffin Armament’s quick-attach suppressor mounting system. The flash compensator installs on the host firearm’s muzzle and serves as the mount adapter for a compatible Griffin Armament M4SD suppressor, allowing the suppressor to attach and detach quickly without tools. When no suppressor is attached, the flash compensator functions as a standard muzzle device.
What thread pitch is 1/2×28?
1/2×28 refers to a 1/2-inch diameter muzzle thread with 28 threads per inch — the standard muzzle thread for 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington AR-15 barrels. This flash compensator is designed for 5.56 NATO host firearms and is compatible with the vast majority of threaded AR-15 muzzles in that caliber.
Does this flash compensator work without a suppressor attached?
Yes. The Griffin Armament M4SD Flash Compensator functions as a standard muzzle device when used without a suppressor, reducing muzzle flash and providing some recoil compensation. Installing it before acquiring the suppressor allows the host firearm to be fully prepared so the suppressor can be attached as soon as it clears the NFA transfer process.
