FMK AR-1 eXtreme Stripped AR-15 Lower Receiver – Polymer, Blue Jay Features

Blue Jay is FMK’s answer to a build that shouldn’t look like everything else on the rack. The AR-1 eXtreme in Blue Jay is the same receiver underneath: composite polymer instead of forged aluminum, mil-spec internals that accept any standard AR-15 parts kit, and clearance for uppers up to .50 Beowulf. Matte blued, 4.3 oz, lifetime warranty.

Everything else the build needs is in our 16″ 5.56 rifle kit that ships without a lower, and the rest of the stripped lower receivers are here.

How does the Blue Jay color actually look in person?

FMK lists the finish as matte blued, so it reads as a flat, low-sheen blue rather than a bright or metallic one. Photos on a monitor tend to push it more vivid than it appears in hand, particularly under indoor lighting.

Will it look right with black furniture and a black upper?

That is how most people run a colored lower. Pairing it with a black upper, handguard and stock gives you a two-tone build without committing the whole rifle to the color. Matching a blue upper is harder, since anodized and Cerakote blues rarely line up with molded polymer.

Does the color change the strength at all?

No. It is the same proprietary composite as every other AR-1 eXtreme and carries the same unconditional lifetime warranty. Color is a cosmetic variant here, not a different material specification.

Do I need an FFL for a stripped lower receiver?

Yes. This is the serialized component, so federal law treats it as the firearm itself. It ships to a licensed dealer in your state, where you complete the 4473 and background check. Send your dealer’s details to ffl@daytonatactical.com after ordering.

What else do I need to finish the build?

A complete lower parts kit, a buffer tube assembly with buffer and spring, a stock or brace, and a complete upper. The receiver arrives bare, with no pins, springs, or trigger group installed.

Is installing parts into polymer any different?

The process is the same, but go gently. Polymer threads and pin holes will not tolerate the torque an aluminum receiver shrugs off, so avoid overtightening the castle nut or grip screw, and support the receiver properly when you drive roll pins.
