Q: Does this kit include a lower receiver?
A: No — the DT10-173 is an upper-only kit; you’ll need to supply your own AR-15 lower (stripped, complete, or 80%) to finish the build.

Q: What caliber is this kit chambered in?
A: The DT10-173 is chambered in 5.56 NATO (.223/5.56), with a 1:7 twist 7.5″ barrel, threaded 1/2″-28. Because 5.56 NATO uses a caliber-specific BCG, it isn’t interchangeable with a different caliber’s bolt carrier.

Q: Does the twist rate matter for the ammo I run?
A: It does. At a 1:7 twist, the DT10-173 handles the full range of common 5.56/.223 loads, including heavier 62–77gr bullets that slower twists struggle to stabilize.

Q: What handguard is installed, and does it free-float the barrel?
A: The DT10-173 uses a 7″ Black M-Lok handguard, free-floated off the barrel for consistent accuracy and zero retention under sustained fire.

Q: What gas system does the 7.5″ barrel use?
A: A pistol-length gas system, sized specifically for the DT10-173’s 7.5″ barrel to keep the action cycling reliably.

Q: Can this be built as a rifle instead of a pistol?
A: Only with a lower and stock combination that complies with current ATF rules. The DT10-173’s 7.5″ barrel is below the 16″ rifle-length minimum, so pairing it with a shouldered stock instead of a brace makes it an SBR under the NFA, requiring registration and a tax stamp first.
