What’s the difference between a 15″ and 12″ handguard on a 16″ barrel?

Can I run a suppressor on this 16″ upper?

With a 15″ handguard, the suppressor body will extend past the handguard, which is the standard configuration — the handguard end is flush or just past the barrel shoulder, so the suppressor threads on cleanly without interference.
