A buffer tube spring, also known as a buffer spring or action spring, is a coiled spring located inside the buffer tube of AR-15, AR-10, and similar rifles. It works with the buffer tube, buffer, lower receiver, stock (fixed or collapsible), upper receiver, and bolt carrier group. The buffer tube spring absorbs recoil and returns the bolt carrier group to battery after each shot, ensuring smooth cycling and reliable operation in AR-platform rifles across various calibers and configurations.
