A 9mm AR upper is a pistol-caliber carbine (PCC) upper assembly chambered in 9mm Luger, built on a blowback action rather than direct impingement. It mounts to any AR-15 lower configured with a 9mm magazine well insert or dedicated 9mm lower, and is popular for home defense, range use, and low-recoil shooting with widely available, inexpensive 9mm ammunition.
