What Pins and Springs Are in an AR Lower Receiver?

The AR-15 lower receiver uses more pins and springs than most people expect: two takedown and pivot pin sets (each with a detent and spring), trigger and hammer cross pins, a safety detent and spring, bolt catch roll pin, buffer retainer and spring, and a trigger guard roll pin. These small parts wear or lose tension over time. If you're building from scratch, a full lower parts kit includes all of these along with the fire-control group — order pins and springs individually here when replacing a specific worn component.
