A 9mm AR is a pistol-caliber carbine: cheaper to shoot than 5.56, low recoil, and great for range and home-defense builds. It works a little differently from a 5.56 AR, so check these before you order.
What's in the kit
A barreled 16" upper (barrel, handguard, muzzle device, blowback 9mm bolt carrier group, charging handle), plus a buffer/spring, stock, grip, and lower parts kit. These kits do not include a lower — they're "no lower" configurations. No magazine, no sights. Exact contents vary by kit; check the listing.
Blowback operation
Unlike a gas-operated 5.56 AR, a 9mm AR is blowback — there's no gas tube or gas block; the heavier bolt and buffer manage the action. The kit's bolt carrier group and buffer are built for 9mm blowback, so the system is matched out of the box.
Magazine pattern
9mm ARs feed from pattern-specific magazines — most commonly Glock-pattern or Colt-pattern — and the magazine well of your lower determines which you use. Match your lower (and the kit) to the magazine pattern you want before buying mags.
